If you have been directed to this page, then chances are you are one of several administrators currently utilizing our HP Data Protector service or interested in using our service to meet your data backup and restoration needs. As the notification you received mentioned, we are in the process of phasing out Data Protector and moving our backup services to a solution based on IBM’s Tivoli Storage Manger (TSM). This process of transition will be carried out over the course of the next few weeks, and will be conducted on a group per group basis.
All of this is taking place so that we can provide you, our clients, with access to one of the most efficient and effective backup, restoration, disaster recovery solutions available on the market today. To further insure the protection of your data we have instituted an off sight vaulting procedure that sends your data to be stored in virtual tape libraries housed on the IUPUI Campus, within the ICTC machine room. This allows us to eliminate the need for physically transporting media to offsite vaults, and allows us to insure the utmost protection possible for your data. These advances will allow for your data to be available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week whether you are restoring a single file or completely rebuilding your server, you can rest assured knowing that your data is safe, secure, and available for immediate access.
